i got accepted to uni for the summer woooo. also got a new job, which is full time now. unfortunately this means less time to work on projects. currently doing my best to find a way to keep stuff comin out

besides that, programming journey has slowed down this month, so im planning to chip at it a bit more for march. im gonna sound really selfish now, but there's many irl responsibilities and friends/family that soak up my limited free time and it just sucks cause i just wanna chill at home and create things/play vidya gaems. with uni starting this summer, i wonder how things'll pan out for the rest of the year.......... we will see!

figured to keep myself productive this year, i would write monthly updates to newgrounds to keep myself accountable and to finish more things this year. so here goes:

COLLEGE

i accidentally took a semester break this spring after getting my AA degree due to troubles in applying for university, but i've been making progress in taking C# courses online since computer science is my major. its not anything impressive to show off, but its progress. once i'm done, ill start a godot course and get crackin to making games as a solo dev.

ANIMATION

some work has been done for my next cartoon, which is based on xenoblade. haven't done a lot of work with it these past 2 weeks, but its all boarded with some basic animations done. it should be done around february or march.

MUSIC

made music for the big mode 2025 game jam. wasn't used in the end unfortunately (most likely due to time), but it was a good experience for my first game jam. check it out!

i made an arrange version of "mischievous robot" for the Cave Story 20th Anniversary Remix Project Vol. 2. proud of how this one came out. album's not out yet but i figured id release my portion of it now. for now, its probably time to move forward from cave story stuff, as thats all ive been doin the past 7 months...

OTHER

a little embarrassed to admit, but a lot of my time went towards setting up my CRT to my PC using the CRT emudriver setup. it took a lot of tinkering and troubleshooting, but it was well worth the effort as the set up:

• has no lag (due to retroarch's run-ahead feature)
• supports automatic resolution switching between 224p, 240p, and 480i
• plays back videos files (for retro animes and movies)
• supports retroachievements
• can be used as a 3rd monitor if necessary

it was a lot of tinkering around to get things to work, but im just glad everything works solidly now. i will probably be getting some wireless controllers for certain consoles later to make it authentic enough, but for now its fine. if you want to check out my retro achievement profile, here it is!

currently on vacation now with barely any internet, but i was able to catch a lot of the responses from everyone, which is great. 

for those interested in backstory, i started makin this cartoon around june 2024 with some designs. figured id make an animation as i have always loved this game for more than 10 years, yet ive never had anything finished to show my appreciation of cave story. therefore, i decided to buckle down and make this frickin thing! it was tough, as i had a part time job and was taking 5 classes in college in order to finish my AA degree. dont be like me yall! but anyways, it was worth it, as everything happen to work out with college, work, and this animation. im very pleased

as for future projects, im probably down to making more, prolly shorter, animations bout things im interested in. tho i probably dont wanna make backgrounds anymore! im not too great at that! if anyone is interested in collabing and drawing backgrounds, hit me up! if not, ill prolly just use images from the video games themselves. 

aside from animations, think ill take more of a backseat with music. also eventually, i wanna make a small game with penguins to have practice with making games, (i am studying in college to be a programmer) so thats somethin im considering as well.

first wanna say thanks to @TaintedLogic for inviting me to NGUAC 2023. it was fun writing stuff and i decided to use it as an opportunity to actually write tracks in a DAW for once and complete said tracks. it was p intimidating, but i made it farther than i thought in the compo, so it was surprising to me as well. i wrote "sky" as something i thought the judges would like, but "DEMONIC SAVIOUR" was more me just lashing out in writing. the latter was a personal track, so im not sweating the score so much for that one.

im thankful to be getting a lot of appreciation and comments from these tracks though. newgrounds is cool. think i wanna stay around and maybe start doing the art things i wanna do more. they may not be the best of quality, but art is for expressing yourself, right? words are tiring to get out these days, so maybe its time i just put more of my stuff out there in the void and just keep it comin. hope to keep it cool, my dawgs

while i have still been creating stuff here and there, ive been kinda stumped on what my next project should be. perhaps i should join a collab or something. i dont have much ideas in my head besides a comic i eventually want to start. collaborating should be fun! meeting people is fun, right? haha

Thank you guys for the love from my new animation! It definitely took a lot of planning and time to make for the jam. While I'm not really new to animating, I haven't made any animations in the past 7 years, let alone make a serious effort to animate such a project like this one. So let me go again by saying it again: thank you.

Furthermore, I'd also love to give my thanks to the people I collaborated with. Many thanks to @VoicesByCorey for being very enthusiastic and hands on with my process. He helped a lot when I was having troubles looking for VAs and was generally a huge help in general, so I must give my thanks. Thanks to @Piper as well, for helping me ease into my role as director of this project as well. There were plenty of things I learned thanks to her help. A shoutout to @Cyberdevil too, as he worked really hard and was patient with what I was looking for in his lines. As for the last of the voice actors, I wanna give thanks to @AdubsVA for joining the project super late and still giving me a phenomenal performance despite the circumstances. All my voices actors were just incredible and I'm glad they all took a chance with me, despite my inexperience. If you guys are looking for any talents, these guys are the real deal! Please give them a shot!

As for on the art side, I wanna give a huge shoutouts to @tapioca-witch as well, as she had a huge part in designing the backgrounds and character redesigns for the animation. She also did some additional art for a particular scene and designed the logo! It all came out very beautifully, and gives me energy to become a better artist.

Finally, I want to thank @RokusWing for aiding me on coloring and cleanup of my animations. He helped out a lot during the final week and stayed up with me in our Discord calls, going over the same drawings about 100 times. We basically worked on it 12 hours straight almost every day for the final week. It was a lot of work, but it got done thanks to his optimism and work ethic. Many thanks, my man.

wassup homies. so at the moment, i am currently boarding a cartoon for my band community (Drum Corps International for those that are curious). to be honest, things have been kinda on the down side as covid is stomping all over our activity, so i thought it'd be nice to make a cartoon and share laughter with everyone. i havent made a detailed cartoon like this before, so hopefully this project ends up being something cool. i already have a line of voices ready, so things seem to be going smoothly.

if anything, im probably going to be needing a background artist or something. perhaps i should throw that in the collaborate section, but i dont think i have enough merit to have people helping me yet so idk LOL

hey yall, im still pretty "new" here, but my 10 year anniversary of my NG account is coming soon! i used to use this acc mainly for playing games and all, but now i just want to show people what i can do. ive mostly made things for myself in the past few years, so i want to change that. hopefully you guys are looking forward to that as much as i am!

on another note, whats something you'd like to see more from me? art? movies? music? i know i want to make some pixel art soon for pixel day, but in the meantime, perhaps theres something i should do in the meantime...
